Hope

Hope:
to place confidence in
with the belief that it will be obtained

In 2007, I had the wonderful opportunity to sing in the General Young Women Meeting. My eye often wanders to this poster in my room. This picture is simple. Nothing fancy, no story behind it, but I love it because His eyes are the focus. There are no distractions, it is just me and Him. I feel closer to Him when I look at this picture. When I look at this picture, I discover true hope.

Hope is everywhere. In a warm fire and a cool drink. In a test, a date, a song. In competitions; in success and in failure. In the support of a friend and the love of a family. Hope is in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and is ultimately presented through His Atonement.

To hope is to look towards something, to believe in it. Hope is to push forward, to seek after something better. It is to include the Lord in all things. It is to find confidence in Him. It is to have faith in Christ.

Hope. Have hope. Hope in yourself, in your abilities, in your future. Hope that good things will come to you. Hope that you will have the strength to earn those good things. Hope that you will live the life that the Lord sees within you. Hope and find hope in Christ. Hope in the eternities to come.

Reaching hands with nothing to hold on to
but hope for a better day, a better day.

Hope is not knowledge, but rather the abiding trust that the Lord will fulfill His promise to us.
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, The Infinite Power of Hope

No matter how bleak the chapter of our lives may look today, because of the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we may hope and be assured that the ending of the book of our lives will exceed our grandest expectations. "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, The Infinite Power of Hope

Hope. . . is like the beam of sunlight rising up and above the horizon of our present circumstances. It pierces the darkness with a brilliant dawn. It encourages and inspires us to place our trust in the loving care of an eternal Heavenly Father, who has prepared a way for those who seek for eternal truth in a world of relativism, confusion, and fear.
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, The Infinite Power of Hope

But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.

  1. I love "Prayer of the Children." Definitely one of my favorite songs ever.
