Weep No More

This song is absolutely beautiful. It was composed by David Childs, set to the text of John Keats' "Faery Song." Weep No More only uses the first stanza, but the second is beautiful too.

Faery Song
by John Keats

Shed no tear -- O shed no tear!
The flower will bloom another year.
Weep no more -- O weep no more!
Young buds sleep in the root's white core.
Dry your eyes -- O dry your eyes!
For I was taught in Paradise
To ease my breast of melodies, --
Shed no tear.

Overhead! look overhead
'Mong the blossoms white and red --
Look up, look up! I flutter now
On this flush pomegranate bough.
See me -- 'tis this silvery bill
Ever cures the good man's ill --
Shed no tear -- O shed no tear!
The flower will bloom another year.
Adieu -- adieu -- I fly, adieu,
I vanish in the heaven's blue, --
Adieu, Adieu!

We all have times of despair. We all fight tears, we all reason with ourselves -- tell ourselves to hold it back, to hold it in. But sometimes, the tears come anyways. Sometimes, it hurts. Sometimes, you just need a moment to fall apart. And that is okay.

But, just as it came, the pain passes. We pick up the shattered pieces and put our lives back together. Eventually, peace and joy quietly return and, as we dry our eyes, we grow. Something beautiful comes in that moment: hope. If not for the contrast between heartache and happiness, what would we have to hope for? It is the opposition that drives us to hope for the best and, as we hope, we progress. We see the beauty around us, we appreciate new things, and we will have the strength to weep no more.
